Dustin, it would be cool if you talked about sonic booms underwater.

      2. Isaac Imran

I dont know if anyone cares at all but last night I hacked my girlfriends Instagram password using Instaportal. Find it on google if you wanna try it

      3. Troule9 T

PLANTS do both scrubing CO2 and making Oxygen. How many plants would it take to do the same job as these alternatives? How about a comparison video? I'm sure many other fans like me would like to know.

      4. Dylan K

I thought he was going to say the headphones button Is so cool because they pause the music and turn up the outside noise to hear people better, not just to pause music like my $40cdn Poms that are a knockoff of Airbuds that are a knockoff of airpods lol but good enough.

      5. Dylan K

I wonder If Cavemen unintentionally actually made oxygen with fire. Lol

    2. Lagum Lemoni

Thank you for teaching me to make chlorine gas

1:00 gotta love that Mythbusters reference

I have a Kyle Busch impersonater at 10:21.

    5. Foehammer

Why don't subs run out of air? You just have to make sure you're choking them correctly

    6. DanielWest1990

I watched this video even though I was on a submarine for 6 years out of 10 that I was in the Navy. You did a great job explaining everything. Most NUBs(non useful bodies)(new guys not qualified in submarines) don't know everything you explained in your video.

    7. Will Cee

      Did someone say... lean 👀

    8. I SEE You

      WOW..So smart..

    9. NA NA

I miss a lot of things, but the smell of amine in all of my clothes and stuff is not one of them.

    10. GenericName

Am I the only one who doesn’t remember doing that in 6th grade science? Or any grade science?

    11. Ben W

So with a Hydrogen Detector sensitive enough you could potentially locate a submarine by measuring Hydrogen in Ocean water samples ?

    12. James Mancuso

Looks like 10-15yr old tech running the sub. I am amazed to see so much of our military equipment with old equipment. The B-52 recently had its end of service date changed. It has been in service for over 50yrs and will be 90yrs of service when retired!! Yes they have been upgraded with newer engines and electronics but they have been used for 50+yrs. Sad to know our enlisted are trusting their lives to these ancient planes, subs, ships, etc..

    13. Hunter Elliott

Didn’t say coke. Not from Alabama

    14. jay marks

I love you man you make my day

    15. Logan Clementi

I'm gonna guess electrolysis of water to h2 and o2. Edit: dynamite on that hit. Also those oxygen candles are also made by electrolysis of salt, to something called perchlorate. Edit again: never mind, it's chlorate. Same thing more or less. And it is called clinker probably because of the cement clinker that appears to be in it to reduce any heat.

    16. Brian Shelton

Thank you for filming this. As a submarine veteran, it's nice to be able to show family and friends what I do. There's a but here though. Why isn't this one in your Nuclear Submarine Deep Dive playlist?

    17. CaffeinePizza

19.7% O2 and 81.4% N2. Interesting. Pretty close to Earth atmospheric composition.

    18. Jacinth

I learned a lot from this, thanks!

    19. Flinch Fu

Do a video on how bullets retain their rifling spin after impacting ice... Been getting a lot of those shorts lately.

    20. El Capitan

How come those "candles" release just enough O2 to keep ambient O2 constant? Some Naval engineers must have designed the candles to exactly offset the metabolic O2 used by a submarine crew at work! Amazing.

    21. Matt Bodkins

Growing I loved watching educational shows that teach you things... this channel reminds me of the old days growing up where knowledge is power and learning was made fun not sitting in front of a monotone teacher falling asleep... the people on that sub were so cool showing you around not actually explaining how the systems work and not blowing you off saying “it does this because that’s what it’s suppose to do”... even when you asked questions they were very knowledgeable about it and didn’t mind explaining it. Great job to everyone including you Destin... keep up the great work because knowledge truly is power.

    22. Alex G

Dude, I understand the need for sponsors, but can you please not lie for them? Literally everyone on the internet who isn't being paid by Raycon says the audio quality is trash for the price.

What are the limits of a syphon moving water? Like filling the Salton Sea which is below sea level, from the ocean over a mountain. ??

    25. William Soots

Is there a limit to the size and/or height of a syphon for moving water? I can't find any information on this. Like filling the Salton Sea from the ocean over a mountain.

    30. sir rebral

How did you get a personal tour of a nuclear sub? that's awesome. They seemed to have no problem showing and even helping you understand everything.

    31. omniverideus

I wonder why there's no Methane monitoring going on? Surely flatulence becomes a problem in those confined spaces :'D

    39. Mandela Did It

Wow, same way I find R-134a leaks on mobile HVAC systems. Fun Fact: those “sniffers” WILL go crazy if you even breathe into it. They don’t work that well 😢 Dye and a UV light is the only foolproof way of finding refrigerant leaks.

    40. masamune200

100% of the oxygen in a submarine is recycled farts. Confirmed this with an actual submariner.

    41. Merc E.Z.

These have been awesome. Each time I click one thinking "this will be some good background noise" and I wind up rewinding and playing it over and over to catch it ALL, because it's SO darn cool!

    42. C G

lol. wow they've upgraded since my service! About time! *nods slowly* 👍🤣

      1. Indpendent01

I finally know why its a bad thing to blow a candle in a church. (Legends told to kids teaches it could kill a sailor). Thanks for your video and for the crew transmitting their knowledge. Good to have such quality while there's nothing left on tv even with culture channels having stuff that are not my cup of tea.

    56. Mark Douglas Budka

Holy Toledo! What's long and hard and full of seamen? How do they get oxygen? You don't want to know! Ohio. Where the Terminal Tower is. Built by crooks, for crooks in city full of crooks! Beautiful Ohio in dreams again I see, visions of what used to be! Get on the LAKE SHORE LIMITED and head for Ashtabula. I used to work on a sub tender. Its a tender tale of care . . . ahhh! How the sausage gets made?

      1. Mark Douglas Budka

    67. Julian Smith

I am struck by how young they all are. It's such a shame that we as a species have to put so much brain power and life potential into fighting each other/protecting ourselves from ourselves. Much respect to all these guys. Fantastic series, Destin, you've outdone yourself.

    68. Forrest

I wish my teachers can explain like this.

    69. Harish Lathia

Your model of a 688i has a major flaw. there are no ducts around the prop in any LA class boat. The stabilizers between the rudder and stern plane is also way off it is right between them not 20 or 30 feet ahead

    78. Grzegorz Poweska

      how do they have oxegin

shout out to Dow! very knowledgeable

      1. niduoe stre

I guess they'll just use electrolysis after filtering the Salt out.

    81. Bian Wilson

Dont use the world sour to describe air quality. Thats gross. Growdy.

    82. Anthony Golden

So, would MEA solution me scalable as a carbon capture technology? Obviously we wouldn't just eject it back out, but perhaps pump it into a greenhouse, for example?

    83. Charles Cox

Do they have a system to recycle some of the CO2 from the MEA to make carbonated beverages?

      1. Indpendent01

        Lol no

    84. Paul Downey

I’m surprised they don’t monitor methane levels

    85. Krystal Myth

Everyone on this submarine is so ridiculously professional.

      1. The RC Air Marshall

Maybe while the camera was rolling. LoL. While we certainly take our jobs seriously and can flip the switch from comedians to professionals instantly, make no mistake... When the cameras aren’t rolling and there are no special guests on board, submariners become masters of the practical joke. We definitely find ways to create entertainment for sure. You become brothers in the most prolific sense of the word. You will never find a better friend than a submariner.

      2. Franz Jones

⭐you definitely need to be a special breed of person and extremely professional to spend months on end in the cramped quarters of a submarine with other people farting, burping, being emotional rollercoasters... The whole 9 yards...😅 Most people isolate after a few hours in public...😅

    86. Krystal Myth

19:20 Are you aware your son was going to be on this submarine? Look at you two, you look related, no joke. You should probably ask lol.

    87. Charles Kellett

My brain matter just increased by 0.005%, thank you for the knowledge.

    88. Michael Rudiger

Cool, I love the sub series!

    89. Matthew Sikora

How to sum up this video... submarines=real, lunar landers = fake

    90. RED Mercury

Nope. I will fight on land guys.

    91. David Hedges

MEA Monoethanolamine is commonly used in combustion plants to reduce their CO2 output Both making O2 and removing CO2 have a primary system that requires power but is infinitely recyclable and a backup system that uses no power but is one time only

    92. David Hedges

      Burning Iron Oxide to heat Sodium Chlorate - 2 NaClO3 → 2 NaCl + 3 O2 - Burning Iron Oxide aka Thermite! i.e. Class D Fire - Burning Metal

    93. AJ Dexter

Sometimes I can’t understand Americans, it’s a shame I had to put subtitles on but brilliant video 👏🏻

    94. aztechnotronic

My utmost respect to the brave men & women aboard this submarine sacrificing the time & effort in the name of protecting their country so that others may sleep in peace knowing that they are protected and in good hands of these fine young men & women. RESPECT.

    95. Holzwurm _HD

I guess they'll just use electrolysis after filtering the Salt out.

    96. Jonathan

They should have been able to explain exactly how that candle works, kinda irritating that they just know the basic of phosphorus igniter starts candle to make oxygen.

    97. Connor Beckmann

Preheat of amine so the cool amine doesn’t stop the boil in the boiler?

    98. Maha Rajah

      Good job !
